HELLO!

My name is Julissa Carbajal and I am a producer, composer and artist born and raised in Queens, New York. Growing up, I indulged in many avenues of creative expression. The extreme diversity of my environment fostered a strong connection to my culture, and a deep empathy for the communities that surround me. I aim to translate the life-long impact of this experience through my art.

MUSIC

Music is my first and longest love. I trained in music theory ages four to fourteen, specializing in the piano and electric bass. In college I took two years of drum lessons and in the summer of 2020 I taught myself to sing. I have several songs out on all major streaming platforms, and many other projects in the works. I aim to score music for films in the very near future. In February 2023 I released a film score called A PERVASIVE SENSE OF STRANGENESS, available on all streaming platforms right now!

FILM

I graduated from St. John’s University in May 2020 with a Bachelors in Television and Film. Since then, I produced a short documentary called Joomak about a small karaoke bar-turned pop up restaurant opened by Michelin chefs Jiho Kim and Kelly Nam, which premiered in June 2022 at the Queer Women of Color film festival in San Francisco. I also produced a short film called Sweet Pea and Glass about two women trying to make it into a secret spy organization. This film premiered at the Transparent Film Festival and the New York Movie Awards this May 2022. For a little over a year I have worked consistently as a Production Assistant on both Union and Non-Union production sets
